First Pentecostal Church of New Orleans is a church that has its foundation in missions. Founded by former missionary to Iraq, John Baptist Thomas in 1940, a heart for world missions was placed into FPC from its beginning. Every pastor in our history has been a foreign or home missionary.
We believe that our purpose is to reach not only our family, friends and the city of New Orleans, but to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave us the strategy for global evangelism in Acts 1:8. “You shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth..." We can put this strategy in action in three ways:
Each month, FPC sends financial support to over 100 missionaries across North America and around the world. Through the monthly commitments of our members and their families, we are endeavoring to spread the Gospel worldwide through financial support. All of the missionaries that we support are Global and North American Missionaries with the United Pentecostal Church International.
FPC has for 75 years trained and sent out church planters to local cities, towns and neighborhoods, and global missionaries to countries around the world. Our vision is to give not only of our finances, but also to send the ministers that we train and equip here in New Orleans to cities and countries around the United States and the world.
Nothing is accomplished in missions work, except through prayer. Our efforts without prayer will not reach the world with the Gospel. At FPC, every Monday night we lift up our missionaries arund the world in prayer. We encourage all members to become partners in prayer with our FPC supported missionaries.
